Max Purcell secured his second straight ATP singles Challenger title (fourth overall), beating James Duckworth 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(5) at the Bengaluru Open on Sunday.

The victory at the KSLTA courts will fetch the Australian 100 points and is set to carry him to a new career-high ranking (in the 110s).

Marcel Siem wins Indian Open, 1st Euro Tour title since '14

Marcel Siem ended his long wait for a fifth European tour title with victory at the Hero Indian Open by a single shot.

The German's last win on the tour came eight years and 116 days ago at the 2014 BMW Masters. A closing 68 saw him edge out countryman Yannik Paul for the victory with a 14-under 274.

Indian Air Force to participate in Exercise Cobra Warrior at Waddington in UK

An Indian Air Force contingent comprising 145 Air Warriors is participating in Exercise Cobra Warrior at the Waddington Air Force Base of the Royal Air Force in United Kingdom. The exercise is scheduled from 06 to 24 Mar 23. The Exercise Cobra Warrior is a multilateral Air exercise in which Air Forces from Finland, Sweden, South Africa, USA and Singapore will participate.

Indian Air Force contingent reaches in UAE to participate in Exercise Desert Flag VIII

An Indian Air Force contingent comprising 110 Air Warriors reached at Al Dahfra airbase of United Arab Emirates for participating in Exercise Desert Flag VIII. The IAF is participating with five Light Combat Aircraft, LCA Tejas and two C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. This is the first occasion when LCA Tejas will participate in an international flying exercise outside India.

Classical dance legend Kanak Rele passes away

The world-renowned doyen of Mohiniattam, Dr Kanak Y Rele, passed away following a brief illness. She was 85. Dr Rele was awarded the Padma Shri (1989), Padma Bhushan (2013), Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1994), Kalidas Samman (2006) and MS Subbulakshmi Award, amongst other accolades.

Gujarat passes bill to stop paper leak in recruitment exams

With the objective of curbing paper leaks in government recruitment exams, the Gujarat Legislative Assembly has unanimously passed a Bill that provides for up to 10 years in prison for such malpractices. As per the provisions of the bill, the accused shall also be liable for fine which shall not be less than Rs 10 lakh, which may extend to Rs 1 crore.

Kerala becomes first state to use robotic scavengers to clean manholes

The Kerala government launched robotic scavenger, Bandicoot, to clean sewages in this temple town, becoming the first state in the country to use robotic technology to clean all its commissioned manholes. Bandicoot, developed by Kerala-based Genrobotics, had recently bagged 'Kerala Pride' award at the Huddle Global 2022 conclave organised by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM).

FDI equity inflows decline by 15% to $36.75 bn in Apr-Dec FY23: DPIIT data

Foreign direct investment (FDI) into India declined by 15 per cent to USD 36.75 billion during the April-December this fiscal, according to the latest Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade data. The FDI inflows stood at USD 43.17 billion during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Centre appoints Rajeev Raghuvanshi as new DCGI

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi as Drugs Controller General of India, Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO). Dr Raghuvanshi had joined the IPC as secretary-cum-scientific director on February 16, 2021.
