Kia India elevates Tae-Jin Park as MD and CEO

Kia India (KIN) announced that Tae-Jin Park, Executive Director and Chief Sales & Business Strategy Officer (CSBO) will assume the role of Managing Director and CEO, Kia India. Park has been associated with Kia India since January 2020.

Park will succeed Kookhyun Shim, the current MD & CEO of Kia India, who played a crucial role in introducing the Kia brand in India.

Toshiba India announced the appointment of Shuichi Ito as its Managing Director.

He will succeed Tomohiko Okada, and lead Toshiba India’s energy and social infrastructure businesses in the country. Okada was at the helm of TIPL’s operations for more than five years.

India has ranked 40th out of 43 pension systems across the world in the 2021 Mercer CFS Global Pension Index survey, suggesting the need for strategic reforms in India to revamp the pension system so as to ensure adequate retirement income.

Sri Lanka's first-ever Test captain Bandula Warnapura passed away, following a brief illness. He was 68.

A right-handed batsman, he led his country when it faced England in its first-ever Test match in 1982 and played three more Tests, scoring 96 runs overall at an average of 12.

He also played 12 ODI matches, scoring 180 runs at an average of 15.

China sent its first solar exploration satellite into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi Province.

The satellite was launched aboard a Long March-2D rocket and entered its planned orbit successfully.

India leads in crop burning emissions globally with 13% share, shows Blue Sky Analytics report

India is ranked at the top in emissions related to crop burning, accounting for 13 percent of total global emissions for the 2015-2020 period, according to a new report released by climate tech startup Blue Sky Analytics, which is also part of global coalition "Climate TRACE".

Blue Sky Analytics, the Indian climate tech startup founded by an IIT alumnus.

India is ranked at 71st position in the Global Food Security (GFS) Index 2021 of 113 countries, but the country lags behind its neighbours Pakistan and Sri Lanka in terms food affordability.

Pakistan (52.6 points) scored better than India (50.2 points) in the category of food affordability. Sri Lanka was even better with 62.9 points in this category on the GFS Index 2021.
