Is there any nationality requirement for SIDBI Grade A?

 

Yes, a candidate must fulfill the SIDBI Grade A Nationality, and they can be either of the following:

  • a citizen of India or
  • a subject of Nepal or
  • a subject of Bhutan or
  • a Tibetan refugee (who came over to India before 1st January 1962) with the intention of permanently settling in India; or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malwi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

What is the age limit to appear for the SIDBI Grade A exam?

 

The age limit for the SIDBI Grade A exam requires candidates to be at least 21 years old and not more than 30 years old on the specified cutoff date. As per last year's notification, the specific cutoff dates state that those born not earlier than 14 July 1995 and not later than 15 July 2004 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply. SIDBI also provides age relaxations for reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwBD, ex-servicemen, persons affected by the 1984 riots, and SIDBI staff, allowing them to apply beyond the general upper age limit.

What is the educational qualification for SIDBI Grade A?

 

To apply for SIDBI Grade A (Assistant Manager), candidates must have a relevant graduation or post-graduation degree from a university recognized by UGC / Government of India. SIDBI accepts multiple educational streams, including traditional degrees, professional certifications, and full-time management programs. 

Candidates must also meet the minimum percentage requirement 60% marks for General/OBC/EWS and 50% for SC/ST/PwBD. In some cases, candidates with specific qualifications must also fulfill mandatory work experience, while those with degrees like CA or MBA/PGDM are exempted from the experience requirement.

Minimum Post-Qualification Work Experience

Not required for: • CA (iii) • MBA/PGDM (iv) 

Required (Minimum 2 years) for candidates with qualification (i) & (ii) in any of the following areas/organizations: 

A. Credit Dispensation Experience (2 years) as a permanent officer in: • EXIM Bank • NABARD • NHB • NaBFID • SIDBI • Scheduled Commercial Banks (Second Schedule of RBI Act, 1934) • NBFCs registered with RBI Work must be in: MSME lending / Corporate lending / Trading & small commercial loans (Experience in personal, education, vehicle, housing loans is not counted.) 

B. Experience in Investment/Financial Entities (2 years) in: • SEBI-registered Investment Banking / Merchant Banking entities • SEBI-registered AIFs • RBI-registered ARCs • Subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks handling MSME segment • Consultancy firms with 10+ years national-level experience in project management (Govt. schemes, digital lending projects, Govt. project implementation, etc.) 

Combined experience: Total 2 years across eligible categories (A + B) is acceptable.

How many attempts are allowed for the SIDBI Grade A exam?

 

SIDBI does not prescribe any limit on the number of attempts for the Grade A exam. Candidates can apply as many times as they wish, provided they meet the age limit and other eligibility criteria specified in the official notification. This means your number of attempts is automatically restricted by the maximum age allowed for your category.

 

Does SIDBI Grade A require work experience?

 

Work experience is required only for candidates applying through the graduation or professional certification route. If you apply with a Graduate degree or with qualifications like CS, CMA/ICWA, or CFA, you must have a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in specific areas such as MSME/Corporate credit, lending, NBFCs, AIFs, ARCs, investment banking, or project management.

However, candidates applying with CA or MBA/PGDM (full-time 2 years) do NOT need any prior work experience, as SIDBI has exempted these qualifications from the experience requirement.

So, experience is mandatory for some categories and optional for others, depending on your educational background.
